Synthesis and Optical Analysis of Cu2O Nanocubes and Their Application for the Detection of Transition Metals

Abstract

Cuprous oxide (Cu2O) nanocubes of size 850 nm have been successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method using different capping agents. The nanoparticles were characterized by UV–Vis spectroscopy, Infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The mechanism of the growth of nanocube has been presented. These nanocubes have been study for the detection of transition metals viz., Cd, Hg, Ar, and Pb. This study establishes that the Cu2O nanocubes find vast applications in catalyst, gas sensor.
