Abstract

A Cu(II) coordination complex with Succinic Acid [(C4H6O5Cu)n,H2O](1), was conventionally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray crystallography reveals that the metal-organic framework exhibits di-nuclear paddle-wheel type cage through which a double-stranded chain structure is generated. The intermolecular interactions have been analyzed in a novel visual manner through Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structure employing 3D molecular surface contours where 2D fingerprint plots have been used to examine molecular shapes.
